Islamic geometric designs are a combination of repeated triangles, squares, hexagons, stars and circles characterized by symmetry, repetition and complexity. Islamic geometric designs are admired worldwide for their beauty and marvelous intricacy, yet they are seldom understood. Geometric patterns occur in a variety of forms in Islamic art and architecture i.e. kilim carpets, Moroccan tiles, decorative vaulting, stained glass, woodwork and metalwork. In Islamic culture, the patterns are believed to be the bridge to the spiritual realm, the instrument to purify the mind and the soul.
